Clay Hollow Bricks: Efficiency, Durability, and Innovation

Clay hollow bricks are engineered to enhance efficiency, durability, and ease of use, making them an excellent choice for cost-effective wall construction. They are available in two main types: Non-Load Bearing Clay Hollow Blocks and Load Bearing Clay Hollow Blocks.

Types & Applications:

  1. Non-Load Bearing Clay Hollow Blocks:

    • Porotherm HP Clay Hollow Blocks: Ideal for infill masonry in non-load bearing wall construction. Commonly used in high-rise apartments, independent houses, villas, hospitals, educational institutions, commercial buildings, and warehouses.
    • Porotherm Thermobricks: Designed for superior thermal insulation, maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures year-round. With a 'U' Value of 0.6 W/m²K, these bricks offer exceptional energy efficiency and indoor comfort.
  2. Load Bearing Clay Hollow Blocks:

    • Porotherm VP Clay Hollow Bricks: Suitable for structures up to Ground + 1 floors. These bricks reduce the need for RCC frame structures, saving on steel and concrete. They offer high compressive strength (≥ 7 N/mm²), excellent thermal insulation, and can eliminate the need for columns, reducing structural costs.

Benefits:

  • Lightweight: 60% lighter than conventional walling materials, leading to substantial savings in structural costs and faster construction.
  • Durability: High compressive strength and resistance to water absorption (approx. 15%) minimize risks of dampness, cracks, and shrinkage. Non-susceptible to carbonation, enhancing durability.
  • Thermal and Sound Insulation: Provides excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing, improving indoor comfort and reducing energy consumption.
  • Natural and Green: Made from clay sourced from de-silting processes and natural additives like coal ash and rice husk. Recognized by the Indian Green Building Council for its eco-friendly attributes.
  • Ease of Use: Simple to handle, cut, and install, including for electrical and plumbing fixtures. Provides effective bonding with advanced dry mortar systems.

Advantages:

  • Comfortable Living: Superior thermal insulation leads to direct energy savings on heating and cooling.
  • Fire Protection: Fired at 1000 degrees Celsius, with a fire rating of F240 (240 minutes), offering exceptional fire resistance.
  • Technical Support: Comprehensive support provided at construction sites to ensure optimal use and performance.
